What is Pin Up Photography?
The term pin-up stems from the many glamourous photographs taken of celebrities and models during WWII, were torn out of magazines and literally pinned up on barrack walls or army tents. It gave the brave boys visual imagery that gave them something to look at other than the horrors of war.
In the modern century, it is represented as a classic art form, displaying women in tasteful, playful, sexy retro poses. The lighting is soft and luxurious, and the mood is fun and irresistible. Atomic Photography is inspired by the great Pin Up artists of the last century such as George Petty, Gil Elvgren, and Alberto Vargas, just to name a few! Their subtle expressions of sexuality and innocence is just what Atomic Photography hopes to capture!

We have great retouching software, the latest in photography equipment, and are experienced in pose coaching and promise to accentuate the most beautiful parts of who you are. Its all about personality! During the shoot, you can let us know what things you would like to hide, and which side is your good side! We want you feel confident in your natural beauty. Posing nude is never required and you will never be asked to pose in any manner that in unflattering, or makes you feel uncomfortable.
Who are the women featured on your website and if you take my photo do I have to appear on your site?
Many of the women you see on our website are everyday women who have given express permission to use their images. After the shoot we will ask you if you would like us to use your photographs on our Facebook page or our website, and have you sign a release form. We will only post the photos that you approve! If you would like us to not post them in our online portfolio, thats fine too!
I am a middle-aged woman... can I pose as a pinup?
Absolutely! We believe that women only get more glamourous with age. You are wiser and much more self-aware. Youve accomplished many things in life and should be proud of who you are!
There are areas of my figure I want to hide or not feature, is this possible?
While posing, you can show as much or as little of your body as you feel comfortable doing. We are always careful to pose my clients in the most figure flattering ways.
What exactly is included in the wardrobe you provide? Do I need to bring garters, shoes etc?
During your consultation, we will discuss what outfits you will be wearing. We have the ability to borrow or purchase items from retailers. Sizes vary so we customize every wardrobe choice. Feel free to bring anything of your own, such as undergarments, hosiery, shoes, accessories, etc.
*We do require that you bring your own Full Coverage Foundation, a pair of skin colored pantyhose, and a pair of good quality false eyelashes. These are things that can be one time use only, and unhygienic to reuse for every customer.
Can I choose my own themes for the photos?
Of course! We will discuss your ideas during your consultation. If your idea is extremely labor intensive (location, animals, heavy hair and makeup, extreme editing) there may be extra fees added to your print cost.
Can I bring someone with me to the consultation or to my photo shoot?
You are more than welcome to bring someone with you for the consultation and the shoot. Many women feel more comfortable bringing their boyfriends or husbands, but I recommend coming alone to your photo shoot. I keep all of my photo sessions to clients only since I find it is easier for my clients to pose when they do not have an audience. If you have a special circumstance and need someone to accompany you the day of your shoot, that is not a problem, please just discuss the arrangements with me ahead of time.
How long does the consultation last and what does it entail?
Consultations last about a half hour and occur anywhere youd like. We can do it over the phone or in person, at your favorite coffee shop or over cocktails. We will go over all the details, inspirations, dress and shoe size, hair color and styling ideas, etc. Its a great way to meet each other and get a good sense of how the shoot will go.
What is your cancellation policy? If I need to reschedule can I apply my deposit to another date?
A non-refundable deposit is needed to schedule a shoot date. The deposit can be made by mailing a check or money order or cash in person. The balance is due at the time of the session.
We understand that emergencies arise, so if you give a 7 days notice, then you can apply your deposit to another date.
Packages are booked months in advance and once a date is secured so is the hair stylist and makeup artist. It is most important that you keep your appointment. Please carefully check your schedule prior to booking.Thank you for understanding!
How do I go about purchasing a gift certficate?
Please email us to purchase a gift certificate. We will need to receive the session price in full before mailing out the gift certificate. After receiving the gift certificate, the recipient can contact me at their convenience to schedule a date for both the photo session and consultation. Gift certificate are good for 1-year from issue date and are non-refundable.
How many proofs do I receive with each type of session? Can I have a proof of every photo you take?
Hundreds of unedited and un-retouched images can be overwhelming and confusing for my clients to view. With each theme/pose we take tons of photos. During the editing process, we eliminate the photos that have no value (i.e: your eyes were closed, not a good facial expression etc.) Therefore, the proofs that you receive are the best of the best. By editing your images, were saving you time and making your job of choosing photos easier.
How long does it take to receive my prints? Can I place a rush on my order?
If you request a rush on your order, I reserve the right to charge an additional fee. This rush service is subject to availability.
What is involved in the editing and retouching of my photos?
We have over 10 years of combined professional retouching experience and retouch all the photos you order. We will smooth skin, remove wrinkles, scars, stretch marks and other skin imperfections. We will not airbrush you into oblivion and make you unrecognizable; we still want to see you in these photos. The proofs will not be airbrushed or retouched since there will be so many of them. If you have anything specific you would like retouched after viewing your proofs, please bring this to our attention when placing your order.
Can I pose with my pet for pinup photos?
Yes, you can pose with your pet for your photos. During your consultation we will discuss the size and breed of your dog. Our studio is an in-home studio and there are two kitties living there. If your animal is sensitive to smells of other animals, please be advised that it is not wise to bring your furry friend to the studio. We can discuss other options for locations however. You will also need to bring someone to act as the the animal handler to walk or mind your pet while you are in hair and makeup. All pets must be kept on a leash or in a carrier when not being photographed. There are lots of wires, lights and photo equipment throughout the studio so, we ask that you only bring trained, well-behaved pets in for portraits. Should your pet break any equipment you will be liable for the damages. Also, please let us know if you are allergic to kitties!
How far in advance do I have to book my sessions with you?
It varies depending on the type of shoot, preparation, and the holiday seasons. We typically like to have your shoot booked a month in advance, but cancellations happen so just ask if we have anything available!
